She stood still and relaxed with are arms loosely crossed over
her chest. She looked puzzled as she stared are the tall man in front of her. She
shifted as she opened her mouth to say something.
“You said it was a time machine…but it can’t be” she said
with a sceptical expression etched across her face. She didn’t break eye
contact as he moved and pointed to the object behind him with the screwdriver he
had grasped tightly in his hand.
“Well I could show you…” he put his hand back in the pockets
of his long brown trench coat before he continued “come with me” he ended
looking at her with a gentle, kind expression. She said nothing and she stared
back at him. She was puzzled she hardly knew this man and he refused to tell
her his name. She kept calm trying not to show her confusion as she slowly
unfolded her arms and replayed to his proposal.
“Come with you, where?”
“Where ever you like” he replied so quickly she wondered whether
he had anticipated her response. She wondered what she would tell her friends
and she looked over her shoulder back at the house not too far behind her “you won’t
be gone for long” he said catching her by surprise “I can get you back here in
ten minutes from now” he said giving her a half smile and turned to enter the
box he had been leaning against. She looked back at the house she shared with
her three best friends and then back at this blue box. ‘I’ll only be ten minuets’
she thought as she unconsciously started moving towards the door. She stood in
the doorway and looked in; it was bigger on the inside. She wasn’t overly
surprised at this but nor was she expecting it. She took two steps inside the
box, she heard him click his fingers and the door closed behind her.
“It’s called the TARDIS. Time and relative dimension in
space” he said poking his head out from around a blue tube that came out the
top of a control panel in the centre of the large room. She strode confidently up
to the control panel and walked around it a few times as if trying to figure
out how to operate the TARDIS.
“How does a police box travel through time and space?” she
asked. She watched his face become tense as he contemplated how to answer her. He
moved his hands as if he was talking to her but the conversation was only in
his head until he finally sighed and answered her.
“Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff”
She laughed softly at him. He turned away in embarrassment. No
one had ever laughed at him like that, it wasn’t a mean laugh but it still
embarrassed him. He looked back at the controls and put on his glasses. Pressing
buttons and pulling leavers until he broke the silence and said:
“So, Hermione Granger, where do you want to go?”
